According to Turismo de Portugal, “Sustainability in Tourism is a goal and a path that must take into account the needs of visitors, industry and communities, as well as their environmental, economic and social impacts in the present and in the future. Sustainable tourism must make adequate use of the territory and natural resources, respect the socio-cultural authenticity of communities and ensure that economic activities are viable in the long term.”

Aware of the importance of maintaining sustainable tourism development, and assuming the principles specifically adopted in the World Charter for Sustainable Tourism, Monte do Olival Lda. undertakes to carry out a sustainable management of its activities, through the adoption of commitments aimed at preventing, eliminating or reducing the impact of our facilities and activities, both internal and external, as well as optimizing the sustainability of the property by improving its behavior towards the environment.

Thus, we are committed to motivating and training our employees with training and awareness actions on the principles of Responsible Tourism, to promote good environmental practices and participate in external activities, and to inform both internally and externally about environmental advances and actions from the company.

We are also committed to fighting sexual exploitation, or any other form of exploitation and commercial harassment, in particular of children, adolescents, women and minorities. We also include a commitment to adopt accessibility measures for people with disabilities (sensory, physical, intellectual and psychological).

One of our main objectives is to improve sustainable management, assuming commitments to continuous improvement in all areas of sustainability: social, economic and environmental, as well as customer satisfaction. To this end, future projects to expand facilities or activities will be subject to criteria of sustainability and efficient use of resources.

This Responsible Tourism Policy will be updated whenever circumstances require, adopting and publishing new sustainability objectives in both cases.
